Scheana Marie Shay has spoken out for the first time since her (semi) shocking divorce.
On Tuesday, the Vanderpump Rules star filed for divorce from husband Mike Shay after about two years of marriage.
The news went viral a day later, with the couple releasing the following joint statement not long after their split was confirmed.
While we have made the difficult decision to move forward separately, our story will continue on through the love and mutual respect that we have cultivated throughout our 15-year friendship.
Much of the recent speculation and reporting on our relationship has been misguided, and we have come to an amicable decision on all matters.
We might have failed at our marriage, but we are committed to succeeding as friends and will continue to support each other’s personal happiness and professional success.
Much of the recent speculation and reporting on our relationship has been misguided… wow, huh?
You don’t see a divorce twosome make this sort of statement very often, do you?
Scheana and Mike didn’t delve any deeper into these issues, but it’s easy to speculate.
As we’ve seen over the years when we watch Vanderpump Rules online, Mike has been clean and sober for about 12 months now, following an eight-year addiction to painkillers.
He actually went missing earlier this month (according to Scheana, at least, who could not track him down), until he shared a message on Instagram that said he was “sober” and “happy,” while also noting:
“I love my wife and will always love my wife. Whatever is going on between us will stay between us!”
Not anymore, really.
Despite Mike’s seemingly positive message and mood at the time, an insider told Us Weekly that the bizarre incident left “the relationship strained.”
Just three weeks after it took place, the relationship has come to an end.
In response to the end of her marriage, Scheana Marie jumped on Twitter last night and expressed gratitude to her supporters.
“Thank you all for the love today! It’s never easy to split with someone you still love, but we will always remain friends,” she wrote, adding a big heart emoji at the end of her message.
The couple actually got married on television, with their 2014 nuptials filmed for an episode of Vanderpump Rules Season 3.
It’s shocking things didn’t work out after that, isn’t it?
How many men and women televise their weddings and then see their marriages fall apart?!? (What’s that? Nearly all of them? Oh.)
Just prior to Season 5 of Vanderpump Rules hitting the Bravo air, Scheana said viewers will see a “different side to [her] relationship” with Mike.
And that will be more apparent than ever now.
How will the show address this divorce?
It will take a few weeks to find out, as filming takes place weeks in advance of new episodes.
But Scheana and Mike have given producers some juicy finale material.
