Big Syke, a long-time rapper best known for his association with Tupac Shakur, was found dead in his Hawthorne, California home on Monday night.

He was 48 years old.

TMZ first reported the story, citing law enforcement officials who say authorities responded to a 911 call and were quickly followed by the Los Angeles County Coroner.

But there was no chance to save Big Syke, whose real name was Tyruss Himes.

He had passed away before anyone arrived at his home.

As of this writing, no foul play is suspected.

For now, it is believed that the artist simply died from natural causes, although an autopsy has yet to be performed. So we cannot say for certain.

However, Big Syke suffered from a history of heart issues and obesity.

As previously mentioned, Big Syke was a very good friend of Tupac; the star dropped verses on a number of the iconic rapper’s tracks, such as “All Eyez on Me,” “Picture Me Rollin'” and “Check Out Time.”

He was also a member of Tupac’s Thug Life group.

Throughout an impressive career, Syke also released four albums on his own, including “Be Yo’ Self,” “Big Syke Daddy,” “Street Commando” and his 2002 self-titled album “Big Syke.”

He met Tupac in 1992.

May he rest in peace.
